Internship highlight #1

The Industry Scholar Program is grateful for our partnership with fleet departments at DCAS, FDNY, NYPD, DSNY, DOT, and DPR in creating 60 internship opportunities resulting in 42 filled automotive repair positions across NYC.

“One day when I was doing a brake job along with my partner Yury from NYPD Shop #6, We had to take out the wheel hub, and in order for us to do that, we had to use a wheel puller, but to use the wheel puller, we had to cut the studs, so he showed me how it was done, and let me try it by my own. I honestly felt so good after finishing cutting the studs because I also felt like this was such a big step in my mechanic career, I felt like I was actually doing great things in that shop”

– Intern Michael Dweene Flores Santos at NYPD Shop #6, Summer 2023

Internship highlight #2

Upwards of 75 students participated in the Spring 2024 Industry Scholars Program session at Nagarro. The students were divided into 4 different tracks: Application Development and Conversational AI, Digital Insights, Digital Service Desk, and User Experience and Design. During the 8-week internship, students and mentors met 5 days a week, including one day in person. The internship culminated with track leads and students presenting their work at a commencement ceremony.

The presentation took place at Tweed Courthouse, and was attended by industry partners, Nagarro executives, NYCPS leaders and the Chancellor of the NYCPS, David C. Banks. Chancellor Banks led things off with a speech about the future of NYC’s workforce and invited students to chime in about their experiences throughout the internship. Students expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to be mentored by Nagarro team members, receiving technical guidance and opening their eyes to the endless possibilities of a career in technology.
